Apply to become a Lean Layer consultant.
Our Consulting Associates Program is designed to turn top RevOps talent to elite RevOps consultants.
What is the Consulting Associate program?
Our Consulting Associates Program is designed to grow successful consultants and give you the necessary skills to manage clients.
We hire exceptional RevOps talent who are already strong performers in their trade. However, working as a consultant requires unique skills that are new to most candidates who are coming from in-house roles or even some consultancies that are tools-centered or implementation oriented.
In this program, you will learn important skills that are pivotal for your success. This include -
-
- Customer Onboarding: How do we learn about our customers' businesses, tech stack, and challenges in record speed. If it takes 3 months for an internal hire at one of our customers to become effective, we do this in 3 weeks.
- Project Management: We are power users of Asana portfolios and we have a structured approach to how we structure projects, provide weekly updates, and produce case studies.
- Discovery and Project Strategy: Successful projects are those that are well scoped and appropriately sized. Our value is maximized when we can interview stakeholders, audit their data and systems, and distill numerous pain points into a clear, concise project plan. These projects should target the root cause of the issue, avoid unnecessary distractions, and deliver significant, measurable value to the client within budget.
- Solutioning: We create RevOps solutions that are simple, easy to deploy, easy to change manage, and easy to maintain. Finding this type of solution to complex problem takes expertise and restraint. We don't automate things unless they are already working well 'manually' and we certainly don't automate things because they can be automated. Our solutions must address a real pain point and they need to to work with minimal side-effects.
- Stakeholder Management: We are often given problems that are deeply rooted within an organization. These problems touch incentives and compensation. They involve change management that require a careful navigation of a companies history, people, psychology, and sensitivities. Successful stakeholder management is one where we build relationships to successfully implement our solutions and prove our value to to those with decision power.
- Practice Building: Our success depends on our people and their ideas. This process involves hiring and coaching talent, collaborating and sharing knowledge, and turning innovations into valuable intellectual property. It also includes being involved in decision-making and adopting the "disagree and commit" mindset to keep our practice strong and united.
Before you apply, here are some frequently asked questions:
I am a senior RevOps professional... is this taking a back-step in my career?
Absolutely not. Our unique approach to revenue operations requires our staff to go through this journey to become effective Go-to-market Advisors or RevOps Solutions Architects. We seek candidates eager to embark on this journey, growing and advancing with us to build an elite career in consulting.
We delineate between where you are in your journey to become a seasoned consultant (our Consulting Associate Program) vs. what one of our clients would have hired you for an internal role (your current title).
Your external title will continue to reflect the career progression you have been - i.e. a RevOps Manager may join Lean Layer's associate program as an associate consultant while maintaining their RevOps Manager title on LinkedIn.
This ensures continuity and career mobility between consulting and in-house roles while giving you the structure and training you need to succeed at Lean Layer.

Am I the right fit?
Let's see... are you mostly saying yes as you read these statements?
- I want to accelerate my learning in RevOps. In consulting, I can gain exposure to multiple companies, industries, and tech stacks in a much shorter timeframe than if I were to work at multiple companies over many many years.
- I am a builder and a problem solver. I get most of my satisfaction from solving new problems vs. running day-to-day, week-to-week, month-to-month, and quarter-to-quarter processes of a company. I want to spend more of my time solving new problems.
- I am a fast learner. I can ask the right questions, and independently dig around to get to the bottom of a problem.
- People naturally come to me with their problems and love to work with me. My questions and solutions don't point fingers. I am seen as the force against the problem.
- I have an immense amount of pride in my work. My work ethic, desire to improve, and ability to deliver impact is fueled by this inherent pride.
- I am a growth oriented person with an insatiable curiosity. New companies, new tech stacks, new industries, new problems delight me.
If so, we highly encourage to explore a career in consulting and our Consulting Associates program is the perfect entry point.
How will I be measured?
You will be measured on your ability to collaborate effectively with engagement managers in client projects-
- Quality of work | the solutions you generate are thoughtful and the end result is reliably accurate
- Time management skills | you can manage your workload and calendar in order to complete the work assigned to you with a high degree of integrity
- Iterative Problem Solving | you breakdown problems into small pieces and process the problem in batches while keeping stakeholder up to date on your approach and progress
- Communication | you use Loom and Asana comments to communicate efficiently.
- Training Progress | you demonstrate consistent and noticable improvement in all skill areas we focus on (see above.)
At Lean Layer, we are ultimately measured by our contributions to these pillars of excellence:
